- SMALL GROUPS
We are working to create a community where all people feel they belong and where we are part of something much bigger than ourselves - all moving in the same direction. We desire to be a church who lives out their faith in the face of moral, cultural, social, and economic challenges. We strive to accept folks at whatever life stage they are in, appreciating their unique gifts and talents, and celebrating a variety of cultures, ethnicities, and races. Our mission statement communicates it best:
"Building a compassionate community that draws people from all cultures and generations into an authentic, intimate and supernatural life with Jesus Christ."
Through this mission, we find God is growing us into a church that is ethnically and culturally diverse, and spans multiple generations. This is exciting to us - we don't want to be a church with one skin color or that represents one economic level. We want to reflect the diversity of our urban center. We want folks to know that we value their experience, ethnicity, age, gender, race, language and culture. It is in embracing this diversity that we find true unity - the kind of unity that allows us to more fully experience and express life in Jesus Christ. We want to become more like Jesus for the sake of others, therefore we are commited to helping our folks grow in each of the above areas.
The Vineyard Church of Houston (VCH) is part of a community of churches - a network of 1,500 worldwide - committed to seeing each generation reached by the power of the Gospel. With a view to embrace integrity in Christian character, along with the activity of the Holy Spirit, each church seeks to be an outpost of God’s compassionate love in a broken world. Although individual churches may differ in some of their perspectives and theology, they all share similar values and priorities concerning our relationship with God and the calling through which he has commissioned us.
