Our Philosophy on Ministry

We believe that every follower of Jesus Christ has spiritual gifts, talents, experiences, and passions that are given to them by God in order to serve his world and his people, including the body of Christ. We believe that to serve is a foundational piece of life together and vital for our spiritual growth. We are created for ministry. Service is not an optional exercise - it is the basis of the Christian life. We want to see all of you mobilized for ministry and doing Gods work inside and outside of the church. We want to provide structures and opportunites for you to serve, not just in Houston, but all over the globe. One of our founders, John Wimber, coined the phrase that "In God's Kingdom, everyone gets to play." We do not believe that the pastors or leaders get to do all the minsitry (or all the work), while the rest of the church cheers them on. Everyone gets to minister, as led by the Holy Spirit! This includes leading, healing, worshiping, teaching, and exercising their spiritual gifts.

Ephesians 4:11-14  So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Romans 12:4-8  For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Galatians 5:13  For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

Colossians 3:23-24  Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

In short, ministry happens by you! What is your passion? What do you love to do? What are your unique skills? Whatever the answers to those questions, we invite you to bring them to God and serve where he leads you to serve.
