JESSICA LEWIS
Worship & The Arts

I am so excited to be serving The Vineyard Church of Houston as Pastor of Worship and the Arts. Isaiah 61 is a favorite chapter of the Bible for me, and asking the Lord to heal the brokenhearted and give a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair is my life's mission. I love to see God do this through healing music and in my work as a counselor.

I first heard about the Vineyard movement during my college years at Baylor University. During that time, I was playing on the worship team and leading a life group at Highland Baptist church. Interestingly, we used a lot of Vineyard songs. Upon graduation I moved back home to Houston and became involved leading worship at the Kingwood Vineyard. During the summers of 1998 and 1999, I traveled with a worship band from Antioch Community Church in Waco across Europe, worshipping in churches, coffee houses and on street corners.

I started attending the Houston Vineyard in 1998 and have been serving on our church’s worship team since then. I play the guitar, violin and piano. In 2009, I initiated and produced Vineyard's first bilingual worship CD: "Esta Es Mi Cancion". Most recently, I was a part of a new Vineyard recording project with a group of friends from Southeast Louisiana, Houston, and Los Angeles. We came together to record an album entitled "We Are One" live at the Northshore Vineyard and Vineyard Church of New Orleans. "We Are One" is a gumbo of gospel, soul, Cajun, New Orleans funk and roots music that celebrates God's goodness. You can get both of these recordings at Vineayrd Resources.

Professionally, I earned a master’s degree in counseling in 2003 and currently am in private practice as a psychotherapist. I came on staff with the Vineyard in September 2006. In 2013, I founded a professional counseling center here at the church.

I have been married to Nate Dickerson since June 17, 2006, and we share a love of music. Nate is an English teacher at Lamar and plays bass with the worship team. We enjoy spending time with our cats, Sammy and Charlotte, our dog, Minnie, traveling, going out to dinner, and relaxing on the back porch with good friends.

I love our church and am honored to serve as the Pastor of Worship and the Arts.
