The desire of the apostle Paul is that everyone who trusts in Christ will be in a continual process of becoming more like Jesus in character and lifestyle. He expresses this passionately in Galatians 4:19, where he says that he is “in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you.” So, at the Vineyard we create opportunities for each person to grow in their life in Christ, with a view to being formed into his image in all dimensions of life. To that end, we have created a series of classes to provide you with the knowledge, tools and opportunities to help this growth take place. This series of classes are designed to give you a solid foundation in four crucial areas; God, his church, your identity, and healing. It is our desire that every adult and teenager at the Houston Vineyard complete these in order to have a similar language and shared experience to help one another grow.
The following offerings are considered our 5 core classes:
Vineyard 101 – Over lunch with the pastors, you will learn about the global Vineyard movement and our church’s history, values, mission, and vision. And hopefully we’ll get to know you too! This class is offered once a quarter and held after 2nd service in the Norhill Room on the 2nd floor. Childcare is offered with pre-registration. Click here to register for the next class.
An Integrated Approach to Healing - This workshop is vital to helping you know God’s heart for healing. You will get hands-on experience using the practical instruction you receive, helping you to partner with God to bring physical, emotional and spiritual healing to others. It will prepare you to listen to God, pray with confidence, and minister effectively through the power of Jesus Christ. Some of the topics that are covered include healing the body, healing past hurts, and demonization. This class is a requirement for anyone wishing to serve on prayer ministry teams and is offered once a year, usually on a Friday night and Saturday. Childcare is offered with pre-registration. Living in a Multicultural World - The changing multicultural landscape of Houston, and our desire to be faithful witnesses, opens our eyes to a key message of Jesus Christ: reconciliation. Reconciliation between races, cultures, generations, and economic levels are needed now as much as any time in history. We realize this has deep implications for the church and our lives. At Vineyard Church of Houston, we have been intentional and purposeful in responding to that message, growing into a church that reflects the diversity of our urban center and communicates the message God values everyone. This workshop will give the biblical, missional and cultural rationales for our commitment to be a multicultural church and provide the opportunity to explore concepts and practices for relating and ministering better with people of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. This is a very interactive time featuring videos and lively discussions. This is usually a one day workshop offered once a year. Childcare is offered with pre-registration.
Biblical Metanarrative - The Biblical Metanarrative traces the storyline of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. It is the triumphant story of God ruling as king over his realm. He does so for his own glory in an all-out war with Satan and his rival kingdom of evil. This presentation is in is its selection of the stories that drive the narrative forward and the uncovering of the divine logic that connects those stories to make a sweeping whole, showing One God, One Plan, and One Story. This class is offered once a year in 7 Tuesday night sessions. Childcare is offered with pre-registration.
Breakthrough - Jesus came preaching and demonstrating the Kingdom of God. So radical was this breakthrough, that human history is divided before Christ and after Christ. The theology of the Kingdom provides the best framework for understanding the life and ministry of Jesus, signs and wonders, healing, revivals, missions, and Christian life. This class is offered once a year in 12 Tuesday night sessions. Childcare is offered with pre-registration.
